Role: Drama Subject Lead
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover
Salary: Main teacher payscale £34,068 - £46,937
Dates: November 2026 – July 2027
Location: Gravesend

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and inspiring Drama Teacher to join a thriving Grammar school in Gravesend as Subject Lead for Drama. This full-time maternity cover offers the chance to lead a successful department while teaching Drama across KS3, KS4 and KS5. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing both the curriculum and the school's vibrant extra-curricular drama programme, inspiring students to grow in confidence, creativity and performance.

The ideal Drama Subject Lead will:

• Deliver engaging Drama lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5
• Lead and develop the Drama department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
• Organise and promote extra-curricular Drama activities, productions and performances
• Inspire students to develop creativity, confidence, communication and leadership skills
• Foster a disciplined yet creative learning environment where all students can flourish

Drama Subject Lead requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or similar recognised in the UK
• Experience teaching Drama across secondary age ranges, including KS5
• Previous experience leading a subject or the ambition and capability to step into a leadership role
• Passion for developing extra-curricular opportunities
• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills
• Enhanced DBS checkon the Update Service (or willing to apply)
