Role: SEN Teaching Assistant 1:1
Pay: £90-105 per day
Contract: Full-time, 22 April – 21 July with potential to extend
Location: Marden, Cranbrook, Goudhurst areas

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with expertise in SEN support 1:1, in particular with children with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)? A small, welcoming rural school in the Weald of Kent is looking for a compassionate and skilled TA to provide dedicated support to a child with PDA.

This is a full-time position, with some early finishes during the week, this offers the opportunity to work in a nurturing, community-focused school where staff are valued and supported. Supporting this student from after Easter until the end of the academic year, this could see potential to extend into September onwards.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:

• Have proven experience working with children with PDA and an understanding of their specific needs
• Build a trusting and positive relationship with the child to support their learning and emotional regulation
• Use flexible, low-demand strategies to engage and support the child effectively
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and parents to implement an individualised support plan

SEN Teaching Assistant requirements:

• Previous experience working 1:1 with children with PDA—this role is not suitable for those new to SEN support
• Strong understanding of autism and demand-avoidant behaviours
• A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning and emotional well-being
• Ability to travel to a rural school near Marden, Cranbrook, or Goudhurst
• Minimum of C-grade or equivalent in GCSE Maths & English
