Role: Department Head of Languages
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £153.85 - £238.59 per day
Dates: Starting September 2024
Location: Kent/Sussex border near Tunbridge Wells

Are you passionate about languages and committed to helping students reach their full potential? Join our Academy School on the picturesque Kent/Sussex border as the Department Head of Languages. As part of a Trust that values ambition, excellent relationships, and individualised student support, you will play a key role in fostering a vibrant learning environment.

The ideal Department Head of Languages will:

  • Lead and manage the Languages Department, overseeing French and Spanish up to KS5.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, identifying areas of excellence and development.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to ensure each student’s individual needs are met.

Department Head of Languages responsibilities:

  • Oversee curriculum development and delivery for French and Spanish up to Key Stage 5.
  • Mentor and support language teachers within the department.
  • Coordinate departmental activities, including language clubs and exchange programs.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
  • Analyse student performance data to inform teaching practices.

Department Head of Languages requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, recognised in the UK.
  • Extensive experience teaching French and Spanish, with a track record of success.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting student development.
